Let it Rain!

When you think of a rainy day, it’s often portrayed as gloomy and sometimes an upsetting mood. Today for a strange reason am looking at it differently. The sound is calming and makes me want to listen to it more. The feel of the drops on my face, the rattle it brings, and the smell of fresh mud make a great combination. I feel like I have a rain of thoughts to introspect, and that perhaps is making me pen my rainy thoughts.

I still remember my childhood days, when school finishes and I walk home, it just pours. I play with my friends, drench ourselves in mud puddles, and open my mouth wide open to drink the rainwater. It is a feeling best experienced than described. And when you’re home, you know my mom isn’t happy with your pettish act. She knows that am looking for a reason to skip tuitions, and she would do all it takes to clean me up, feed me and send me tuitions. And there are power cuts due to the downpour, which gets us back home, which makes my day. Sometimes my rigid tuition teacher forces me to study under a lantern while we just pretend to be studious. My dad would get these hot Chilli Fritters (Mirchi Bajji) and the feeling of eating something hot, and spicy with cold weather from the rain is just a magical feeling. The feeling you get when you get drenched in rain knowing that you get sick. As I said before, one should experience this crazy feeling. Good old memories

I often feel rains have emotions that reflect one's personality. Sometimes it’s so soothing that one would feel calm and rejuvenated. And when the situation escalates you realize a thunderous storm is waiting to unfold. Most of us feel relaxed when situations are under control however when they go out of hand, a situation would unravel creating havoc. I feel disturbed when a situation goes out of my control, that creates a whirlpool of thoughts and if that continues, it creates a hassle leading to multiple tornadoes in my mind. Eventually, I calm myself, take time to organize them, and play them in my head that either make sense or nonsense. If a situation makes sense, I’m prepared. Nonsensical thoughts stay for a few days and it’s the greatness of time again that’ll make forget. Sometimes a deep conversation and happy souls around me make me forget my worries.

I could resonate my personality with the mood of rainy weather. Sometimes calm and sometimes thundery. People very close to me can see an interlude of my emotions waiting for an outburst. Just like a small whirlpool turning into a huge turnaround and ultimately reaching a deadfall. In some cases my mood is reflective of the people around me, happy faces, real emotions, and deep conversations can give me a good high. The beauty of human relations is that we need to be more reflective of other people we are close with. We admire great qualities that we notice and reflect in our personality unknowingly. A gloomy mood is often contagious for many of us compared to a bright sunny day. Everyone prefers uplifted happiness like a sunny day. You caress the sunlight and enjoy the warmth of the day, but often life is indicating that not all days are as sunny as they seem. One needs to enjoy the gloomy day too, and instead of getting depressed, I’m trying to embrace it. Life has many ups and downs and I believe the attitude towards each situation makes us a better human. So next time when we feel depressed about a rainy day, I guess there is another way to look at it. A positive posture is all it takes and an attitude that withstands these mood swings is all it takes to change a gloomy mood to a sunny mood.

On that note, I sign off. Until next time.
